Leeds City Council – Accesspoint

July 14, 2009

accesspoint-tinsLeeds Library launches public internet service via Accesspoint branding.

This project, albeit now 7 years old, was a major breakthrough for both Leeds City council and myself personally as design agency partner and Creative Director.

A successful relationship with Leeds City Council started out with a brief to create a new brand identity for the 56 Leeds’ libraries and a ground breaking concept in free internet access for the public. This was not a lick of paint, rather a complete overhaul for the Library infrastructure itself and each of the individual libraries in the city. The modern and exciting new look was supported by a creative marketing campaign, champagne launch and comprehensive Accesspoint fit-out.

Within 12 months library membership had increased by 15% and Leeds City Council was awarded ‘Beacon Status’ for its libraries by Central Government and the campaign picked up Publicity Award in the category of Best Printed Publicity Material.

The brand has since had a successful and attractive makeover by my former Leeds based agency, which still handles the account.
